Annual General Meeting & August Luncheon - 2005

Born out of the "Dialogue with the City", Network City will be guiding the growth of Perth over the next two decades.
We have a map and new concepts of activity corridors and mobility corridors. But what does it mean and how is it going to be implemented?
Is Perth going to have an urban growth boundary?
The Chairman of the WA Planning Commission, Jeremy Dawkins, gave us an insight as to what this all means and what is going to happen from here-

NETWORK CITY: WHERE WILL THE MAP TAKE US?

Recent events include:

Heritage - The Challenge

I would like to invite you to join us for lunch next week to hear from guest speaker Dr Patric De Villiers - Chair of the Heritage Council of WA.

The Heritage council could be considered to have been somewhat conservative in the past, however with Patric now at the reins, a new direction could well take form. Patric's interesting and sometimes controversial views will without doubt add spark to the approach of heritage issues in Western Australia.

Come and find out what out what new directions lay ahead for the Heritage Council.  The Flyer

Year of the Built Environment

The Western Australian Government has proclaimed 2004 Year of the Built Environment. The Federal Government has recognised the value of this excellent WA initiative, adopting the program nationally so that all Australians may join in the events and activities, which celebrate our built environment.

The Year gives us a great opportunity to:
  • Recognise how the quality of our environment makes a vital contribution to lifestyle and well being;
  • Celebrate those places, buildings and structures that help define our national identity, mark our place in time, and leave a legacy of awareness for future generations;
  • Revisit our accomplishments;
  • Look forward to developing fresh ideas and realising positive, sustainable outcomes in the environment we create for ourselves, our children and future generations.
A State Steering Committee has been appointed to plan the celebrations and encourage community, industry and Government involvement. AIUS is part of this committee, represented by Noel Blandford. There's more - we've also become a silver sponsor - stayed tuned for some terrific YBE/AIUS combined events.

YBE will raise awareness and promote community debate, educate, demonstrate best practice, and provide the tools and support to develop vibrant, healthy built environments.

Importantly, it will encourage greater community input to ensure our built heritage is valued and conserved - and in planning a future built environment that is healthy, harmonises with our natural environment, is sustainable and amendable.
